Revelation 3:7 reads,
"And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia, write: He who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, and who shuts and no one opens, says this..."
Close to 30 years ago a prophecy, based on this verse, indicated that God was going to send people out on the "Open Door Journey" to other nations. Hence, I have referred to it often as the Open Door Ministry, and have watched for many years to see the start of it. In 1998 I ministered in the Philippines, and in 1999 and 2000 I ministered in Australia. In September 2008 I took a 3-week trip to South Africa, which fulfilled a vision that I had in 1984.
Each time, I wondered if this Open Door Ministry was about to begin. But each time it involved a single trip.
Last Sunday, the strange prophetess who came to our table at the restaurant said to me also that God was "opening up a door of ministry." I knew it was about this Open Door Ministry, so I have been pondering the "three months" that she also mentioned. She said "vacation in three months' time," and that it would be a 6-month vacation.
I could easily conclude that this Open Door Ministry would begin in June or July after the "vacation." It will be interesting to watch, but at the moment, I have no particular revelation to interpret what she has prophesied.
Last night, however, an unusual event took place. The front door knob on our home became stuck, and it was impossible to open the door. Believe me, when God shuts a door, no man opens it! Being a bit slow, it did not occur to me until this morning (as I was awakening) that the Lord had mercy on my peabrain and reminded me of Rev. 3:7.
We have had company this week, and John has long worked as a contractor. He is getting a new doorknob to install on my front door even as I write this. "There came a man, sent from God, whose name was John. He came for a witness..." (John 1:6, 7).
This opens up another detail of the revelation. When Jesus began His ministry (in Luke 4), He first went to the synagogue and read Isaiah 61:1-2, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me...." Who was it that opened the door of ministry for Him? Well, John, of course. God called John to prepare the way for Christ's first ministry.
We are now seeing an Open Door as we approach Rosh Hoshana this evening. It is the end of the previous year and the start of the coming New Year. It appears that this New Year is the one in which we will see the Open Door Ministry begin. It appears that God is finally opening that Door, and that no one will be able to shut it.
There have been many obstructions and delays over the years, but I do believe that we are about to see the doors of opportunity open shortly. In whatever calling we have, if it has to do with the second work of Christ, I believe that the Door will open in this coming year.
Meanwhile, another local friend, Charlotte, who is a prophetess that attends our Bible studies, was sent to minister in Philadelphia this past week. I will be interested in her report when she returns. I doubt that this trip was a mere coincidence.
