Back on October 3, 2007 the statue was unveiled in London called "The Spirit of Zionism." It is a huge spider, thirty feet high, designed to make people below very uncomfortable, so that they may identify with the Palestinians, who have lived under that fear for decades.
From the date that this statue was unveiled (10/3/07) to the beginning of the Olympics (7/28/12) is precisely 1760 days, or 40 x 44 days. (If you reckon inclusively, you can date it from today, which brings us to the opening ceremonies for the Olympics.)
What I find interesting about this is that the number 44 is the biblical number for "Chosen People." Scripture applies it to the moment when God ends a controversy over who is truly "chosen," because the number 43 is the number for "Contention." So after a time of Contention (43), God renders His judgment on the issue to reveal who is truly the "Chosen People." (44)
Hence, it appears that the Olympics 2012 marks the time of God's verdict in regard to the Israeli state.
The 44th time Abram's name appears is in Gen. 16:1,
1 Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children, and she had an Egyptian maid whose name was Hagar.
This is the beginning of the story of Sonship, showing first the natural and then the spiritual. Hagar represents a temporarily "chosen" bride who would bring forth a son who was also temporarily "chosen." That is, Ishmael was assumed to be the promised seed for a time. Keep in mind that the change from Abram and Abraham also represented the progression from the Old Covenant to the New. Abraham includes the "H" in his name, which is the breath (Spirit) of God. Ishmael's father was Abram; Isaac's father was Abraham.
So the 44th time that Abraham's name is mentioned is found in Gen. 21:14, where Hagar and Ishmael were being sent away after the divine verdict:
14 So Abraham rose early in the morning, and took bread and a skin of water, and gave them to Hagar, putting them on her shoulder, and gave her the boy, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered about in the wilderness of Beersheba.
The people of the Old Covenant are children of Hagar, Pauls says in Gal. 4:22-25. They might be considered to be temporarily "chosen," as was Ishmael, but in the end they cannot inherit the Kingdom apart from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
The 44th time that Jacob's name appears is in Gen. 29:21,
21 Then Jacob said to Laban, "Give me my wife, for my time is completed, that I may go in to her."
Jacob was supposed to receive Rachel, as agreed, for she was the chosen bride. However, Laban gave him Leah instead, forcing Jacob to work for another seven years to obtain Rachel.
In the New Testament, the 44th time Jesus' name is mentioned in the book of Luke is on Mount Herman at His transfiguration in Luke 9:35, 36,
35 And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My Son, My Chosen One; listen to Him!" 36 And when the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone.
Here the divine verdict corrected Peter's enthusiastic plan to build three tabernacles for Moses, Elijah, and Jesus. The voice declares Jesus to be "My Son, My Chosen One."
All of the great themes of Scripture are combined in the meaning of this number 44. Sonship forms a large part of it, because 44 is 22 x 2. The number 22 means "Sonship; Sons of Light." But it goes beyond the 22, because it is tied to the witness of the Holy Spirit to validate the true "chosen people" in the earth.
The number 1760 is 44 x 40, so we see that 44 is combined with 40, the number of trial or probation. This number was applied specifically to Judah in Ezekiel 4:6, when the prophet was required to lie on his right side for 40 days to give Judah 40 years in which to repent. This was why Judah received 40 years of probation from Jesus' ministry (30-33 A.D.) until the Roman War (70-73).
So now we are seeing 40 periods of 44 days. This may mean that the probationary time period of the Israeli state has been completed, after which time God will render His verdict to settle the controversy of Zion (Isaiah 34:8).
We know, of course, that Jerusalem's judgment in 70 A.D. was incomplete, because the city was rebuilt, contrary to the prophecy in Jer. 19:11. I believe we are now nearing the time when Jerusalem will be destroyed in such a way that it will never again be rebuilt. This will mark the casting off of Hagar and her son, as prophesied in the story of Abraham.
The question of the day is this: Do the London Olympics mark the time of the divine verdict that reveals who the real Chosen People are today? Is this statue of the spider a manifestation of the Spirit of Zionism?
