The rise of the house of David, part 6

The Jubilee Prayer Campaign was an easy victory. I had expected to see great opposition, because I had pictured this campaign in military terms, as I had been taught previously. There was justification for this viewpoint, of course, since the name of the campaign was taken directly from the Jericho battle in Joshua 6, where they blew the Jubilee (“rams’ horns”) for six days.

But on November 28, 1993 it was finally revealed that this was really a battle in the divine court, and that the outcome depended fully on which side of the law we were. Whereas the outcome of a military campaign largely depends on the size of the forces that are fighting, the outcome of a battle in the divine court depends fully on the decision of the judge as he weighs the evidence according to the law.

The great Judge of Creation follows His own rule in Exodus 23:2, “You shall not follow the masses in doing evil, nor… turn aside after a multitude in order to pervert justice.”

Because we were led by the Spirit and acted on revelation from the Holy Spirit, we knew that we had easily won our case. Yet we also knew that we would have to wait a year for confirmation.

The Pattern of Daniel 4

On one level the court battle was an appeal against the builders of Herod’s temple, where the overcomers petitioned the court to recognize their own building project as per Ephesians 2:21. The overcomers have been building the spiritual temple, whereas the unbelievers, supported by many believers, have focused on rebuilding a physical temple in Jerusalem.

On a different level, this was also an appeal to end the authority of Mystery Babylon, based on the revelation of Daniel 4. We did not fully understand it at the time, but Nebuchadnezzar’s “seven periods of time” (Daniel 4:23) was designed to give the king time to repent. He was to eat grass, the prophet told him, “until you recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind and bestows it on whomever He wishes” (Daniel 4:25).

We ourselves understood from this that Babylon’s modern-day rulers would be given seven years of grace in which to repent, taking us from November 29, 1993 to November 29, 2000. But this was not the actual overthrow of Babylon but only the court case preceding it. In Daniel’s time, Nebuchadnezzar repented and declared Babylon to be one nation under “the King of Heaven” (Daniel 4:37).

Nebuchadnezzar’s successors, who rule modern Mystery Babylon (in a hidden or secret government), have decided instead to fight God and defy His ruling. Hence, their rule is ending in violence and force, as described in Revelation 18:21. Babylon’s authority ended in 2017, and I believe it will take seven years to overthrow this city fully (by the end of 2024).

Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream

Nebuchadnezzar dreamed of a majestic tree. “Its height reached to the sky” (Daniel 4:11), and “its foliage was beautiful and its fruit abundant” (Daniel 4:12). But then he saw a “watcher, a holy one,” descend from the sky, who commanded the tree to be cut down (Daniel 4:13). “Strip off its foliage and scatter its fruit,” the watcher said, “yet leave the stump with its roots in the ground” (Daniel 4:14, 15).

In other words, the original tree of Babylon was to be cut down, but because its roots remained, it would regrow in a new form as Mystery Babylon. Daniel 4:17 concludes,

The pattern of the original city of Babylon was to be repeated at the end of the age in regard to the secret government of Mystery Babylon. The agents of this secret government have tried to keep their power hidden, and anyone who seeks to expose it to the public is called a “conspiracy theorist.” But God has revealed it to His people by labeling it “Mystery Babylon.”

The 12-Month Grace Period

Daniel interpreted the king’s dream in Daniel 4:19-27, telling him that he was that huge tree that was to be defoliated and cut down. He also prophesied that he would eat grass for seven years and be exposed as having the character of a beast. Then after he repented, he would regain the throne.

In the modern fulfillment from 1993-2000, we saw the same pattern emerge. However, the main difference is that this restored tree is now being cut down permanently—no stump left behind. The time of the Kingdom of God is at hand. As of 2017, Babylon and all the beast systems have lost the heavenly mandate on account of their corruption and misrule.

The first year of Nebuchadnezzar’s seven-year sentence allowed the king time to repent without being forced off the throne. This is consistent with God’s gracious judgments. But he remained full of pride, because his form of government was an absolute monarchy. He failed to recognize the God of Heaven as his Sovereign. So we read in Daniel 4:28-31,

²⁸ All this happened to Nebuchadnezzar the king. ²⁹ Twelve months later he was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon. ³⁰ The king reflected and said, “Is this not Babylon the Great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?” ³¹ while the word was in the king’s mouth, a voice came from heaven, saying, “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is declared: sovereignty has been removed from you.”

In 1993 we studied this pattern and prayed to know its meaning. The Spirit of God showed us that we would see a similar pattern emerge from November 29, 1993 to November 29, 1994. After twelve months we would see the actual evidence that we had won our court case.

Defoliating Washington

America’s mid-term election occurred in early November 1994. We were living in Washington state, which we saw as the spiritual headquarters of Washington D.C. In other words, to know what was going on in Washington D.C., we only needed to observe the events in Washington state. In the weeks running up to the mid-term election, people were talking about the race between Washington state congressman, Tom Foley, and his opponent, George Nethercutt. The supporters of George Nethercutt talked about “De-Foley-ating Washington.”

The name, George, means “a husbandman,” one who cares for the land. One of his duties is to prune trees or cut them down if they are unproductive. The name, Nethercutt, means “a lower cut,” suggesting that the tree was to be cut down without leaving a stump.

When I first heard this on the radio, I knew immediately that this was about the great tree of Babylon that was to be defoliated and cut down. “Chop down the tree and cut off its branches, strip off its foliage and scatter its fruit” (Daniel 4:14).

This is precisely what happened. George Nethercutt won the election, unseating the Speaker of the House.

GATT (1947-1994)

At the same time, congress was debating the GATT agreement, which was the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, a precursor to the World Trade Organization. Congress passed this bill on November 29, 1994, and the Speaker of the House, Tom Foley, then gave a speech bragging about the greatness of their actions. He then resigned from congress, although he could have remained until the newly-elected congressmen were sworn in six weeks later.

Tom Foley, then, was the modern spokesman for the great tree of Mystery Babylon. The decree of the watchers defoliated Washington and cut down the tree with a lower cut. This occurred exactly twelve months after the climax of the Jubilee Prayer Campaign.

The GATT agreements actually had begun in October 1947 with 23 nations participating, and it was due to expire on January 1, 1995, after which time it was to be replaced by the WTO.

Hence, when congress passed the GATT bill on November 29, 1994, it marked the culmination of the development of trade agreements leading to the WTO, which came into effect on January 1, 1995. God gave it 46 years (to 1993) before the divine court ruled against it. The GATT’s final year was its time to repent.

This is important because Mystery Babylon has much to do with merchants and trade, as seen in Revelation 18:11, 15, 19. In this case, the WTO primarily benefitted China, because it started the great shift of wealth from West to East. The rulers of Mystery Babylon hoped to reset the world according to the Chinese Communist model after the fall of the Soviet Union.

They seemed to have great success in doing this, but finally, they ran out of time 23 years later in 2017. The election of Donald Trump in 2016, with the slogan Make America Great Again, meant that he did not agree with the plan to make China great again. The China plan began to fall apart as Trump reversed course, shaking the rulers of Babylon to the core.
