Fasting Journal, part 1

Today is the 6^th day of my fast, which I began last Monday, August 2. The overall prayer in this time is the prayer of Moses: “Father, show me Your glory” (Exodus 33:18). God told him that no one could see His face and survive the experience (Exodus 33:20), but that He would show him “My back,” or an afterglow, an indirect view of God, or the result of His glory.

The word translated “back” is ahore, which comes from ahira, “my brother is evil.” It is probably the word picture seen when Jesus told Peter, “Get behind me, Satan” (Matthew 16:23). Peter had opposed Jesus’ intention to go to the cross, thinking that was a bad plan.

It is interesting, then, that “I will make all My goodness pass before you” (Exodus 33:19). When we are positioned properly at God’s backside, then we can see His goodness. If we try to get out in front of Him, as Peter did in the example above, we see only evil in His stated plan.

His goodness is described in His long Name, which He proclaimed to Moses in Exodus 34:6, 7,

⁶ Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “Yahweh, Yahweh El, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; ⁷ who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression, and sin, yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished [naqa, “clean, blameless, acquitted”], visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generation.”

This defines His goodness. Note that He “forgives iniquity, transgression, and sin, yet He will by no means leave the guilty blameless.” In other words, His goodness does not allow sinners to remain in their sinful state. He judges them in order to restore them to righteousness. This defines His “goodness” and “lovingkindness.” His goodness is expressed even in judgment.

August 2, 2021: Day 1

The revelation I received today was given through one of the prophets on YouTube, who spoke to the audience, saying, “Your petition is granted.” He then quoted Jesus’ words in John 16:23,

²³ In that day you will not question me about anything. Truly, truly [“Amen, Amen”], I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.”

The Lord spoke to me and said, “I have granted your request, because we are in covenant.” So from the start, He has shown me that my prayer is granted, but I still must press on with the time of prayer and fasting for it to manifest in the world.

This reminds me a lot of the law of imputation of righteousness, where God calls what is not as though it were (Romans 4:17 KJV), and where God shows the end from the beginning. When he speaks, things come into existence (Romans 4:17 NASB) long before they are seen in the earth.

So also are we declared righteous by imputation up front when we are justified by the quality of faith that Abraham had (Romans 4:21, 22). It is a promise of a future righteousness.

August 3, 2021: Day 2

The revelation today is: “There will be an invasion of heaven.”

This was explained further the following day.

August 4, 2021: Day 3

The main revelation today is: “He will come with 10,000 of His saints (or holy ones).”

This is taken partly from Jude 14 and 15,

¹⁴ It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones ¹⁵ to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”

It is also a reference to Deuteronomy 33:2 KJV,

² And He said, “The Lord came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; He shined forth from Mount Paran, and He came with ten thousands of saints; from His right hand went a fiery law for them. ³ Yea, He loved the people; all His saints are in Thy hand; and they sat down at Thy feet; every one shall receive of Thy words.”

It is also a reference to the first chapter of Enoch, which says in verse 9,

“For behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His holy ones to execute judgment upon all, and to destroy all the ungodly, and to convict all flesh of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”

It is clear from this that the invasion of heaven is angelic and perhaps even the spirits of earthly saints who have passed from the scene. It is hard to say how this is to be fulfilled and who exactly will be involved. Yet it is clear that the purpose of this invasion is “to execute judgment upon all and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds” (Jude). This is the express work of the Holy Spirit from Jesus’ description in John 16:7-11.

From Deuteronomy we see that “His saints are in Thy hand” and that in His hand is “a fiery law.” In other words, the invasion from heaven are 10,000 saints in whose hearts the fiery law has been written. These are the ones who “sat down” at Christ’s feet and received His words.

It seems clear from this that the “saints” are not just angels but people whom God loves. The book of Enoch does not contribute anything further to this revelation.

The question is this: What does this heavenly invasion have to do with seeing the glory of God?

It appears that there is a two-fold aspect to God’s glory: (1) His goodness (Exodus 33:19), and (2) His compassion and forgiveness in the midst of judgment (Exodus 34:7). In other words, it appears that judgment is about to be seen in a bigger way, along with the outpouring of the Spirit, which will be the result of the invasion of 10,000 saints.

Secondary revelations for this day are:

When the glory of God hits, there will be no turning back.

David is taking down Goliath.

Goliath, we know, was descended from the giants in the land of Canaan that the Israelites feared so much that they were unable to enter the land when the 12 spies gave their report (Numbers 14:1, 2). His name comes from the root word gala, “to uncover, discover, remove into captivity.”

David removed Goliath from the earth. Financially speaking, we see Discover Card, along with others who occupy giant corporate buildings. Modern Goliath has threatened us all and has oppressed us all in our Babylonian captivity. “David” is now coming in the form of 10,000 saints to bring judgment upon Goliath. One stone will bring him down, and this is the stone that hits the image of gold on its feet and grinds all the world empires to dust (Daniel 2:34, 35).
