We have taken the five ministry gifts (Evangelists, Pastors, Teachers, Prophets, and Apostles) as an outline for the courses of Bible study in this School.
Our purpose is to equip those who are ministering with a knowledge of the Word, so that each will be more effective in fulfilling his or her calling.
Learn MoreWe have been watching “barley” dates for the past 12 years in regard to the 9th sign of Elisha (2 Kings 4:42-44). In the days of Elisha, that particular sign occurred at the time of Passover and the wave-sheaf offering of barley. This is evident because the man brought the first fruits of barley to the prophet, with which he fed 100 men and had leftovers.
Jesus, too, fed the multitude with 5 barley loaves and 2 fish. This event is dated in John 6:4,
4 Now the Passover, the feast of the Jews, was near.
No one was allowed to eat of the new crop of barley until the first fruits had been offered to God on the wave-sheaf offering—the first Sunday after Passover. The fact that the boy offered Jesus “five barley loaves” (John 6:9) suggests that it was the day of the wave-sheaf offering. In fact, by multiplying the bread, Jesus gave us the prophetic meaning of the wave-sheaf offering, when He was soon to rise from the dead.
This day was later called by the more pagan name, “Easter” (from Ishtar, or Astarte), which ultimately led to the introduction of bunnies and easter eggs, both fertility symbols. Yet regardless of how pagans or the church treat the day, it is the wave-sheaf offering of barley.
There is a discrepancy between the Roman Catholic “Easter” and the Orthodox “Easter,” because the eastern church did not accept Pope Gregory’s calendar correction in the 1500’s. You can read about it here:
https://www.christianity.com/wiki/holidays/orthodox-easter-origin-and-date.html
This year, Easter will fall on Sunday, April 17, 2022, according to the Western Gregorian calendar. Orthodox Easter will fall on Sunday, April 24, 2022, according to the Julian calendar used by Eastern Orthodoxy.
I have learned over the years that God finds use for everyone’s calendar. He is not nearly as picky as we are. In our case, last Sunday was the (Roman) Easter, but this coming Sunday, April 24, is the eastern Easter. As things are developing, last Sunday was important, but not as important as this coming Sunday.
It appears that April 24 will be the barley date that I have been looking for since 2010. I base this view on developments going on in South Africa, not with the dinar situation. I have no intel on the revaluation of the dinar, other than what other people are saying. But who knows? We might see everything happen at the same time.
Just sayin’.
Dr. Stephen Jones has been writing blog posts since 2005 on a variety of topics from Bible Studies to World News, and he has been writing books since 1992. Dr. Jones' most important writings came after God brought him back into the full-time ministry in 1991. It is here that all his earlier years of searching the Scriptures began to come into clear focus. He combines a knowledge of the Old and New Testaments with a personal revelation of God that began and developed during the "wilderness" period of his life, which he often refers to as God's True Bible College...
