The Purpose of Cursed Time

Prophecy is a revelation of the divine plan to establish God’s Kingdom in the earth as it is in heaven. Hence, it gives hints of what is to come in key moments of world history. History is simply fulfilled prophecy, so those who do not know history are handicapped in their study of prophecy.

My history teachers in high school were among the most boring of all possible teachers. Most of them were otherwise known as “coach,” and they were more interested in sports, and teaching history was only an excuse to get a coaching job. They did not know how to make history relevant—at least, not to me.

A Change of Perspective

In my third year in college (my first at the University of Minnesota), I took a course in Roman history. The professor lectured in an auditorium to about 500 students in the class. He was no less boring than all who had come before him, but the topic itself stimulated an important revelation. I realized that I was studying the fourth kingdom of Daniel’s prophecies. Suddenly, I saw history in a new light. To study history was to study how prophecy is fulfilled!

My entire outlook about history changed in that moment. From then on, no one had to force me to pick up a history book. I now saw history books as aids to Bible study to increase my understanding of Bible prophecy. Since that time, I have read countless history books in order to gain an understanding of how we got where we are today.

Of course, the Bible itself is mainly a history book as well. It is not a collection of myths and legends that have been embellished by each generation—as the Higher Critics have claimed. It is the history of God’s Kingdom, both in heaven and in earth (Genesis 1:1). His Kingdom is the creation itself, for whatever He created, He owns and claims as His Kingdom.

A study of history, however, is not merely about learning what happened in years past; it is also about learning when these events occurred. Only by knowing what and when can we understand prophecy and begin to gain insights into the mind of God so that we may know His ways.

The Meaning of a Prophetic Time Cycle

Most people are almost totally unaware that the timing of a historical event contains a revelation into the mind of God and His prophesied plan. Most are unaware that a prophetic time cycle is based on the meaning of numbers. Most are unaware that the starting point of a prophecy is the cause of the event at the end of the cycle—usually resulting in divine judgment.

This is especially true of a Cursed Time cycle, which is measured in 414 years and its multiples. So, as I have already shown, God’s curse upon the ground in Genesis 3:17 began a countdown toward divine judgment, ending with the flood in Noah’s day after 4 x 414 years (1656). In this, we learn the seriousness of Adam’s sin and the seriousness of divine judgment.

Yet we also learn of God’s grace, for He gave the earth 1656 years in which to repent and thereby avoid divine judgment. Again, although the people in Noah’s day failed to repent, God spared the righteous ones. Noah and his family found grace, a group of just eight people (1 Peter 3:20). God often judges nations and all of its citizens collectively. Yet at the same time, God spares a remnant, separating them from the collective whole and treating them as a tiny righteous nation within a larger ungodly nation.

Cursed Time on a Personal Level

The number for Cursed Time is 414. It falls short of Blessed Time (490) by 76, and therefore, even if repentance occurs, it will require a “76 factor” to move fully from Cursed Time to Blessed Time. I know this by personal experience, not in terms of years but in days. Invariably, the cause of my Cursed Time experiences had to do with one of two issues: either I was in a calling that was not mine, or I rejected a calling that was mine.

To come into Cursed Time is not often caused by “normal” sins of the flesh. “All have sinned,” Paul says in Romans 3:23, but Cursed Time is usually the result of a specific type of sin that involves higher matters such as one’s calling. God revealed to me when I was 12 that I was not called to be a pastor. But when I turned 30, I accepted a calling as a pastor, and this became a curse to me, because I took upon myself a responsibility that I was unable to fulfill.

God gave me a grace period in which to repent, but I was too blind to know what was happening. So I spent 414 days under Cursed Time. Toward the end of that cycle, I learned my mistake and repented. When the 414 days were fulfilled, I was spared, and God immediately added another 76 days after which time I came fully into Blessed Time.

A few years later, a similar situation arose. I had joined the Net of Prayer in January of 1983, which was indeed my calling at the time. This was my early training in the principles of intercession and spiritual warfare. But then in July 1985 God told me that I was to leave the Net of Prayer and “call the New Net of Prayer to prayer.” This horrified me, and so I found a way to justify my refusal to leave as instructed.

So after another short grace period in which to comply with the word of the Lord, I again found myself liable and responsible to fulfill a calling that was no longer mine. This time, God gave me three cycles of 414 days in which to comply, and I served most of that time in Memphis, TN. This was my “Egyptian bondage experience,” based on the fact that Memphis’ sister city was the biblical Memphis in Egypt (Isaiah 19:13).

Toward the end of that time, I resigned from the Net of Prayer, and so, once again, when I reached the end of the third 414-day cycle, the judgment was cancelled, and God moved me to Leachville, AR. To leach is to drain or cleanse, and my actual address was Rt. 2, Box 76. Hence, in this case, as long as I lived at Box 76 in Leachville (“Cleansing Village”), I was being cleansed before returning fully to Blessed Time.

This lasted about four years, after which time God moved us to Washington state to begin the new ministry which had been prophesied as “the New Net of Prayer.” I do not go by that moniker, of course, but the term suggests that God’s Kingdom Ministries was raised up to finish what the original Net of Prayer started.

GKM came into Blessed Time in 1993 and began conducting prayer campaigns in November of that year. God timed this to coincide with the 40^th Jubilee of the church. From the day of Pentecost in 33 A.D. until Pentecost of 1993 was precisely 40 Jubilees (40 x 49 years). This was the church’s wilderness journey, correlating with “the church in the wilderness” in Acts 7:38 KJV.

So GKM was raised up in 1993, and when we moved away from Box 76 in Leachville, we entered Blessed Time, which was necessary in order to fulfill our calling as the New Net of Prayer. As we have not deviated from this calling since that time, we have remained in Blessed Time and have been able to do that which we are called to do.

The Meaning of 414

The number 414 is 46 x 9. The number 46 is the biblical number that means temple. In the New Testament, the word “temple” appears 46 times. Also, John 2:19, 20, 21 says,

¹⁹ Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” ²⁰ The Jews then said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” ²¹ But He was speaking of the temple of His body.

Paul also tells us in 1 Corinthians 3:16,

¹⁶ Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

Yet the temple in Jerusalem was never glorified—not even when it was built according to divine instruction in the days of the prophet Haggai. The Ark of the Covenant had disappeared with Jeremiah just before the Babylonian captivity, and it was never placed in the Most Holy Place of the second temple. Hence, when King Herod dismantled the temple and reconstructed it to become one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Most Holy Place did not contain the glory of God.

This is because God forsook that location as He had forsaken Shiloh in earlier times (Jeremiah 7:14). The glory departed from the temple in Jerusalem just before the city was destroyed by the Babylonians (Ezekiel 10:18, 19; 11:23). Recall that when the glory left Shiloh, a grandson of Eli was born, and they named him Ichabod, “the glory has departed” (1 Samuel 4:21).

The glory of God never returned to Shiloh (in the tribe of Ephraim), but eventually went to Jerusalem to inhabit Solomon’s temple. But that temple, too, was defiled, so in the same manner, Jeremiah tells us, the glory departed from Jerusalem. We can say that Ichabod was written on that temple site in Jerusalem as well. For this reason, the glory did not return to that temple, but awaited the day of Pentecost in Acts 2, when the glory began to inhabit the final temple, which is the body of Christ.

For this reason, we see that there are two temples that we must consider. The first is the temple in which the glory of God was absent; the second is the temple in which “the Spirit of God dwells in you” (1 Corinthians 3:16). Those who seek a third temple to be built on the temple mount in Jerusalem are denying the sure word of prophecy given to Jeremiah, as well as the new temple that God now inhabits. Paul describes it in Ephesians 2:20-22.

The number 414 is built upon 46 x 9 and is therefore a revelation of two temples. Our bodies are characterized by 46 chromosomes, 23 from each parent. We are a temple of God. Yet not everyone is filled with the Spirit. Those who lack the Holy Spirit can be compared to the second temple, a structure devoid of the glory of God. Those who are indeed filled with the Spirit are temples in which God dwells.

This, of course, was the purpose of the outpouring of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:1, 2. The day was comparable to the day God spoke the Ten Commandments from the mount and when He offered them the privilege of being filled with the Spirit. The day came to be called the Feast of Weeks (Exodus 34:22), because it was celebrated 7 weeks after offering the first fruits of the barley harvest on the first Sunday after Passover. (Reckoning inclusively, this was the 50^th day.)

Many years later, this day came to be known by the Greek name, Pentecost, “fiftieth day.”

We see, then, that Cursed Time (414) is based on the number 46, which has to do with the temple. When the true temple is filled with the Spirit of God, it aligns with Pentecost, the feast of weeks, which are counted as seven sevens.
