Deuteronomy 22:5 says,
5 A woman shall not wear man’s clothing, nor shall a man put on a woman’s clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.
The majority of Christians believe this law, but yet they have undermined the entire law of God by teaching that the law was put away when Christ died on the cross. Paul taught no such thing, of course, but the flesh desires to sin and to see sin legalized.
Fifty years ago, killing one’s own baby was legalized in the name of “a woman’s right to choose.” Many Christians objected, but yet they undermined their own objection by quoting the law: “Thou shalt not murder,” while at the same time continuing to say, “Jesus put away the law.” This inherent contradiction has now taken a new twist.
The law in Deuteronomy 22:5 is one such law that most churches put away and yet they are now appealing to it in their objection to blessing drag queens. We have now reached the point where lawlessness [anomia] in the church is bearing ripe fruit.
The Cathedral of Hope, a church in Texas, has openly blessed drag queens from the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

“A church in Texas recently held an LGBTQ+ service where several drag queens were blessed, prompting protests from those in opposition outside the church.
“On Sunday morning, the Cathedral of Hope in Dallas held a ceremony to bless members of the drag and charity organization, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, with church leaders saying during the service, ‘Drag queens are often targets of hate and violence. But we know that they are often powerful and resilient people who show us what it means to be truly authentic and expressive,’ the Dallas Morning News reported.”
The Cathedral itself boasts:
“These popular services are filled with wonderful music and follow a more traditional format yet carry a progressive message.”

In this case, “a progressive message” is defined biblically as “lawlessness.” Is God really impressed with their “wonderful music” while they are blatantly lawless? Ask the ancient Israelites, whom God expelled from the land on account of their lawlessness.
I am reminded of the condition in Israel after most of them were exiled to Assyria. The Assyrians brought in foreigners to replace the Israelites, and these made an attempt to serve the God of that land. (Gods in those days were thought to be territorial.) The result is seen in 2 Kings 17:33-41,
33 They feared the Lord [Yahweh] and served their own gods according to the custom of the nations from among whom they had been carried away into exile. 34 To this day [i.e., the time of Ezra] they do according to the earlier customs; they do not fear the Lord, nor do they follow their statutes or their ordinances or the law or the commandments which the Lord commanded the sons of Jacob, whom He named Israel…. 41 So while these nations feared the Lord, they also served their idols; their children likewise and their grandchildren, as their fathers did, so they do to this day.
The Cathedral of Hope ought to give drag queens “hope” that they will some day be delivered from their sin. Instead, they have redefined hope to mean that God will bless them in their sin. Wonderful music is no substitute for obedience.
Jesus warned us about this in Matthew 7:20-23,
20 So then, you will know them by their fruits. 21 Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?” 23 And then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness [anomia].
The law was not put away or annulled. It was changed, as we read in Hebrews 7:12,
12 For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also.
To change the law does not annul it. It is a change in its form. So instead of animal sacrifices, we now have the perfect Sacrifice that does not have to be repeated twice daily. To strip the Levitical priesthood of its authority and to replace it will the Melchizedek Order does not put away the law, but gives the authority to a better order of priests. There was indeed a change in the law in order to accommodate the change from the Old Covenant to the New. But the basic principles of the law remained intact and still define sin to this day.
The Cathedral of Hope is a modern example of the lawlessness in the church in Jesus’ warning. Hopefully, the eyes of the church as a whole will be opened to see its own serious mistake in putting away the law and legalizing sin.
