It is hard to believe that just 20 years ago Putin wanted to join NATO and the EU. But Putin was rebuffed, because this would have completely destroyed NATO’s purpose, which was to protect Europe from the former Soviet Union.
It is hard to win the peace. Too many unemployed generals.
In addition to this, the plan had already been put in place to break up Russia into six smaller and less powerful countries that could be more easily dominated by the western oligarchs. The breakup of the Soviet Union disenfranchised millions of Russians from Russia, because each new independent country had many ethnic Russians living in those countries. Many of these suddenly faced an increasingly hostile environment and had no one to defend them from discrimination and/or oppression.
Putin was concerned about this and developed a policy of defending ethnic Russians living in the former Soviet Republics. This policy reached its apex after the US-led Maidan coup in Ukraine in 2014. The new US-dominated government in Ukraine immediately began taking steps to ban the Russian language and to engage in a massive cancel culture of all things Russian.
To make matters worse, NATO began to train a massive army of Ukrainians and prepare the way for Ukraine to join NATO. They hoped to put nuclear missiles in Ukraine for “defense” purposes just a few hundred miles from Moscow itself. Putin reminded NATO of its 1991 agreement not to move one inch east, an agreement which they had already completely disregarded. Western governments are not good at keeping their promises or honoring their treaties.
In addition, the Olympic Games were held in Sochi, Russia in the summer of 2014, and here is where the LGBQ propagandists were barred from flaunting or advertising their lifestyle. Russia was seeing a religious revival, based on traditional values and was not about to adopt the new western policies.
This, of course, provided fuel for the media’s hatred of Russian culture, which was returning to traditional Orthodox Christianity.
In late 2014 and 2015, the Minsk 1 and 2 accords were negotiated and promptly ignored. Years later, western leaders admitted that they had never intended to keep those signed agreements but were using them only to buy time to train the Ukrainian army. It was soon clear that western nations could not be trusted to keep their word.
When Ukraine amassed a large army in the Donbas region of Ukraine to bring back the breakaway republics, Russia finally intervened with its Special Military Operation. This operation was designed to force Ukraine to the negotiating table in order to protect the rights of ethnic Russians dominating eastern Ukraine and to allow them the right of self-determination.
The plan almost worked. Negotiators met in Turkey in late March 2022, and they reached an agreement—a starting point. As a point of good faith, Russian troops were withdrawn from much of the territory captured thus far. But then the UK’s Boris Johnson flew to Kiev and promised unlimited aid if they would just tear up the agreement. The agreement thus failed, and the war has continued to the present time.
Ukraine conducted a large-scale “counter-offensive” starting June 4, 2023, which failed to push the Russians back more than a few kilometers. Ukrainian troops even failed to reach the main Russian fortified lines. Now it is the Russians which are pushing the Ukrainians back.
Meanwhile, Russia mobilized a half million troops a year ago and have been training them. Few of these have even entered the war yet. Ukraine, on the other hand, is running out of manpower and is having to kidnap every man they can find—even up to 70 years old—along with many women as well. So many Ukrainians have fled to other countries that the population of Ukraine is down 40%.
Americans, in spite of the pro-Ukrainian media propaganda, are finally starting to object to all the money being sent to Ukraine. Just a few years ago, Ukraine was known to be the most corrupt government in the world, and much of the money for the war effort is being siphoned off. Weapons sent to Ukraine are being discovered in other countries as well. The media tries to hide this, but information is hard to suppress in today’s world.
Then PM Netanyahu unleashed his Hamas soldiers against his own people on October 7, while at the same time telling IDF forces to withdraw from the border. This unleashed the Gaza war, which the PM hoped would give him the excuse to get rid of those pesky Palestinians who had been living in this refugee camp since 1948. After all, they were occupying space that should be given to Israeli settlers. So says the party platform of his Likud Party.
Once again, the compliant media has worked hard to make Hamas and Palestinian synonymous terms. There have been numerous shocking statements trying to justify killing women and children as if they are all Hamas members. But this plan is backfiring, because most of the world is not buying what Netanyahu is selling. In my opinion, Netanyahu has unleashed the final sequence of events that will result in the destruction of the Israeli state itself.
Congress is prioritizing the Gaza war over the Ukraine war, and Zelensky is in a state of panic as his flow of cash is drying up. He may even have to cancel plans to buy more mansions in Florida. There is now open talk about Ukraine negotiating with Russia. The problem is that Zelensky passed a law forbidding all such negotiations.
There is more talk about giving Zelensky asylum in Florida and giving him US citizenship. It is clear that there are differing factions within the US military and the government itself, but the tide has turned against Zelensky in spite of his brave rhetoric. If the free flow of money is restricted in any way, Ukraine will collapse almost immediately. The US taxpayers are paying for Ukraine’s entire budget, pensions, and military operations. But Congress has recessed until January without authorizing more money for Ukraine.
This may be the beginning of the end.
Government propaganda has claimed that “if Putin wins, he will invade Europe.” This sounds much like the argument used in the 1960’s in the Vietnam war. Putin has never threatened Europe, in spite of what they say. Putin is interested only in defending Russia and ethnic Russians. It is the West that has threatened Russia. The West thought it could take over the vast natural resources of Russia by breaking it up into smaller countries. Putin has moved to defend Russia from this western plot. Can we blame him?
What concerns me most is the fact that the US government itself has no honor. They say that a man is only as good has his word. The same holds true with institutions and governments. The US government has a long history of breaking its treaties and lying to the American people. The Native Americans were the first to discover this. Today the Russians have learned this as well.
This week Putin gave a long press conference, where he was asked, “If you had one word of advice to your younger self, what would you tell him?” In other words, if you could give advice to yourself as you were 20 years ago, what would you say?
Putin’s answer was, “I would tell him not be so naïve.” In other words, don’t be so quick to believe the promises of western leaders. This was probably a planted question, designed to tell western leaders that he has no confidence in any of them in regard to negotiations.
