The last letter of the Hebrew alphabet is the tav, which was originally written as an X or cross. Modern Hebrew letters, of course, are quite different, because these were Aramaic letters, adopted during Judah’s Babylonian captivity. But prior to that captivity, the style of Hebrew letters is called Phoenician Hebrew.

Even earlier, in the days of Moses, Hebrew letters were more picturesque and were known as Paleo Hebrew (or Egyptian Hebrew). Nonetheless, regardless of the shape of letters, the meaning of those letters has been consistent.
Each letter was also a number and a word. For example, the first letter of their alphabet was their number one and its meaning was an ox (i.e., strength, first, greatest).
With this in mind, let us look at the tav, the last letter, which served as the number 400 and was also the word for a mark or sign (or signature). A good example of this is seen in Ezekiel 9:4,
4 The Lord said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, even through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark [tav] on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.”
This refers to God’s mark of protection upon the remnant of grace during a time of impending war with the Babylonians (Ezekiel 9:6). The prophet may have followed this command literally by writing a mark on the foreheads of those believers that he knew personally, but it is unlikely that he was acquainted with all of the remnant company in his day. More likely, those few that he sealed with the mark of God were a few who represented the rest of them by the principle of unity in the body. If the head is anointed, the whole body is anointed and receives the same benefit.
Just as a few in Ezekiel’s day received the mark of God on their foreheads, so also do we see the same principle of divine protection toward the end of time in Revelation 22:3, 4,
3 …His bond-servants will serve Him [Christ]; 4 they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.
So the tav (X) in Ezekiel 9:4 is defined more specifically here as “His name.” In other words, it is God’s mark, sign, or signature. A name also signifies one’s nature or character. To have Christ’s name on one’s forehead means that His nature has been transferred to the person. This, of course, is the provision of the New Covenant, where the Spirit of God writes God’s laws upon our hearts (Hebrews 8:10). When we no longer need to be taught to know God, it is because we know Him (Hebrews 8:11) by the revelation of His laws.
For thousands of years, when illiterate men had to sign legal contracts, they were required to sign with an X. It is not that God is illiterate, but that the tav could be read even by illiterate people, and they would recognize the nature of God in those who had the mark of God upon them.
As Mystery Babylon collapses in our day, we too need to have the name of Christ written on our foreheads in order to avoid judgment. We ought to understand that the judgment is directed against Babylon, not against us. In the time of Daniel, the fall of Babylon was a catastrophe to the Babylonians, but it was designed to set God’s people free.
So it is today as well. No true believer ought to fear what is coming. Our faith is in God, who is answering our prayers for deliverance. How else can God deliver us from the long tribulation that has been in the world since the fall of Jerusalem in 604 B.C.? This tribulation began with Babylon, but it continued under Persia, Greece, Imperial Rome, and Religious Rome to the present day. It was not a mere 7-year period as so many think. It was 7 x 360 years, plus some extensions, as I explained in various books such as Daniel’s Seventy Weeks.
If God could protect His remnant when Babylon conquered Jerusalem, could He not protect His remnant when the forces of the New Jerusalem conquers Mystery Babylon?
The beast empires were given their opportunity to overcome the saints for thousands of years, as we read in Daniel 7:21, 22,
21 I kept looking, and that horn [extension power] was waging war with the saints and overpowering them 22 until the Ancient of Days came and judgment was passed in favor of the saints of the Highest One, and the time arrived when the saints took possession of the kingdom.
It appears that there is an appointed time when God says, “Enough! Seal the saints with My name and empower them to overpower the final beast! The time has arrived for the saints to be given authority to establish My Kingdom!” I believe we have arrived at that appointed time. We have conquered Mystery Babylon through spiritual warfare.
There is some panic in Babylon, as its impregnable gates are breached by the forces of Cyrus, God’s “servant” (Isaiah 44:26), God’s “shepherd” (Isaiah 44:28), and God’s “anointed” (Isaiah 45:1), that is, God’s Messiah. That panic is causing the rulers of Babylon to speed up its plan to gain control of the world and to impose its immoral culture upon the world. But their allotted time has come to an end.
The saints received the Dominion Mandate at the feast of Tabernacles in 2017. At that time, we received the revelation of timing that Babylon would fall in 2024. We are now there, and from that perspective we can understand current events. We are the generation that is blessed to overcome Mystery Babylon and to see the great Stone crush the feet of the Babylonian image (Daniel 2:34, 35).
We are the generation of the remnant of grace that are divinely protected so that God may “crush Satan” under our feet (Romans 16:20). It was prophesied in Genesis 3:15 that the serpent’s head would be crushed under the feet of Christ, but Paul reveals that on another level, Christ is the Head of the body, and we are His feet. Jesus Christ crushed Satan under His (personal) feet by His resurrection, but now He is crushing Satan under our feet as well at the end of the age.
