Some commentators believe that Donald Trump’s recent announcement about taking ownership of Gaza took PM Netanyahu by surprise. That is how they interpret Netanyahu’s body language and (they say) his shocked expression. These commentators believe that this unexpected policy is impossible to implement, but that Trump is actually taking ownership of the war itself in order to stop the bombing.
I hope they are right. Trump is often an enigma, as he says many outrageous things as part of his “deal making.” But if he really means to do what he said, “temporarily” forcing the entire population of Gaza into Egypt (or perhaps Jordan), it could easily be sabotaged by the Israelis themselves. Once the population has been sent to Egypt, it would take years to rebuild Gaza. The longer this would take, the less likely it would be that they would ever be allowed to return.
Trump himself stated that Gaza will become an international city, and he stated that “a few” Palestinians would be allowed to return. So if he can be taken at his word, it is clear that the ethnic cleansing would be almost total and that it would be permanent.
We will have to wait and see what happens.
From the standpoint of Bible prophecy, we know from Jeremiah and Isaiah that Jerusalem is slated for utter destruction, probably due to nuclear fallout (as Isaiah 29 implies). So I do not believe that the Trump plan will succeed, no matter how serious he might have been.
Neither Egypt nor Jordan are in any position to refuse Trump’s policy. Both are heavily dependent on US foreign aid, and this gives Trump total leverage to impose his will on either country. Both countries would be destroyed financially if Trump wanted to use this power. But if either accepts this ethnic cleansing, it is doubtful that those governments would survive. The people themselves are likely to overthrow their leaders in a grassroots revolution, even without CIA support.
On the other hand, if we step back and ask ourselves what the plan of God might be, it may be that God would indeed allow this ethnic cleansing in order to remove the Palestinians from Gaza before the entire land suffers from nuclear fallout. If so, this would be an act of mercy disguised as a disaster.
Meanwhile, Trump is going on with his plan (first mentioned by President Kennedy) to dismantle the CIA. He has offered CIA employees a generous severance package for all who will retire or quit. It is being reported that thousands are ready to take him up on his offer. I don’t think the CIA will go out of existence, but it could easily be pared down to a manageable level.
Last week Trump also suspended all “USAID”. The original concept of USAID was to assist foreign countries with agriculture development, but in recent years it was also used to undermine governments that the US does not like. In other words, it got involved with election interference and, if that failed, then it funded opposition groups to foment so-called “color revolutions.” The most recent (failed) attempt was to overthrow the government of Georgia.
USAID in 2014 succeeded in funding the overthrow of the Ukraine government, which set the stage for the present Ukraine war. The US State Department sent Victoria Nuland to Ukraine with a budget of $5 billion to accomplish this goal. They wanted Ukraine as a NATO member in the US war against Russia. Russia said NO, and so they intervened so as not to have NATO nuclear missiles on their doorstep.
America was faced with a similar situation in 1962 when the Soviet Union put missiles in Cuba. This sparked the so-called Cuban Missile Crisis. The US government justified its willingness to go to war with the Soviets back then, but now they deny Russia the same right in Ukraine. Power politics has no regard for basic principles of equal justice.
But God is using this NATO-Russian war in Ukraine to weaken and destroy the Babylonian system in the West. The US government thought it could sanction Russia and destroy the Russian economy, but as it turned out, the sanctions only destroyed Europe’s economies. In fact, by not selling products to Russia, the Russians themselves developed their own products, and this has made them largely independent of Babylon. Russia is now much stronger than it was in 2014.
Europe has been largely demilitarized after sending all their tanks and ammunition to the graveyard in Ukraine. Germany is quickly de-industrializing because their industries are losing their competitive edge, due to the high cost of energy. France’s politics are a mess. The Deep State in Romania had to nullify their recent elections because its handpicked candidate was about to lose. They love “Democracy” unless the people vote for someone other than their candidate.
