The arms of silver are giving the Babylonian image an unfriendly bear hug. For two decades I have believed that when an ounce of silver was priced at $50, it would be a major sign of the downfall of Babylon (that is, the banking system). In the past year the price has doubled. In the past month it has shot up from about $35/oz to $64 (as of this posting).

Francis Hunt reports that his arms are getting stronger. He used to be able to lift only $5,000 worth of silver, but now he is able to lift over $6,000 worth!
This is not just a rise in price. It is the collapse of fiat currency. It now takes much more paper currency to buy the same amount of silver (and gold, too). High-tech industry is getting squeezed, because it needs silver to make products to sell. Each product has only a small amount of silver in it, but silver is absolutely necessary—otherwise, the entire company is out of business. High tech is what now drives economies.
The big banks have been suppressing the price of silver for decades in order to make the US dollar look healthy. That is now coming to an end. To drive the silver price down, they have issued paper contracts to sell buyers certain amounts of silver at a low price in the future. But they do not have any silver to sell. They were assuming that the price would drop. They sold paper promises which will come due later at a much higher price. They stand to lose billions when their paper contracts come due. That is the crisis.
These big banks are all “too big to fail,” so the government will have to bail them out with taxpayer money in order to save the world economy. The failure of a single big bank would cause the entire world economy to crash, because they are all tied together.
In past crises (1980 and 2011) they simply changed the rules and made it more expensive to purchase silver. Sales crashed, and the price was driven back down. Many today assume this will happen again, so some silver dealers are afraid that this will happen again. The problem is that there is now a (physical) silver shortage, and big tech companies are trying to stockpile it for the future. This was not a problem in 1980 or even in 2011. It is today.
